Is Your Heater Acting Up? We Fix It All.

A malfunctioning heating system can manifest in various ways, often giving subtle clues before a complete breakdown. Recognizing these signs early can help prevent further damage and more costly repairs. Our expert team is equipped to diagnose and resolve a wide range of heating system problems, ensuring your system runs smoothly and efficiently.

  • No Heat or Insufficient Heat: Perhaps the most obvious sign, your system might be blowing cold air, or simply not turning on at all. This could stem from a faulty thermostat, a tripped circuit breaker, issues with the pilot light or igniter, or a more complex mechanical failure within the unit.
  • Strange Noises: Heating systems are designed to operate quietly. Grinding, squealing, rattling, banging, or clanking noises often indicate worn-out bearings, a loose component, a failing motor, or issues with the blower fan. These sounds should never be ignored as they can lead to more significant damage.
  • Frequent Cycling (Short Cycling): If your heater turns on and off too frequently without effectively heating your home, it's short cycling. This common problem can be caused by an oversized system, a clogged air filter, a malfunctioning thermostat, or problems with the heat exchanger. Short cycling wastes energy and puts undue stress on your system.
  • Unusual Odors: A burning or dusty smell at the beginning of the heating season is often normal as accumulated dust burns off. However, persistent burning smells, electrical odors, or, critically, a distinct gas smell, require immediate attention. If you detect a gas odor, evacuate your home and contact emergency services and us immediately.
  • High Energy Bills: A sudden, unexplained spike in your energy consumption, even without increased usage, can be a clear indicator that your heating system is losing efficiency. This might be due to a clogged filter, a failing component, or a lack of proper maintenance, forcing the system to work harder.
  • Thermostat Malfunctions: Your thermostat is the brain of your heating system. If it's displaying inaccurate temperatures, failing to turn the system on or off, or if your home experiences uneven heating, the thermostat might be faulty, miscalibrated, or in need of replacement.
  • Pilot Light Issues (for Furnaces): For older gas furnaces, a pilot light that repeatedly goes out, struggles to ignite, or has a weak, yellow flame instead of a strong blue one, indicates a problem. This could be due to a clogged pilot opening, a faulty thermocouple, or issues with gas supply.

Regardless of the symptom, our skilled technicians possess the diagnostic tools and expertise to pinpoint the root cause of your heating system's issues and provide effective, lasting repairs.

Repair or Replace? We Help You Decide.

A crucial decision for many homeowners facing a heating system breakdown is whether to invest in a repair or consider a full replacement. Our technicians provide honest, expert advice to help you make the most informed decision for your home and budget. Factors we consider include:

  • Age of the System: Heating systems generally have a lifespan of 10-15 years. If your system is nearing or beyond this age and experiencing frequent breakdowns, replacement might be a more economical long-term solution.
  • Frequency of Breakdowns: A system that requires constant repairs indicates underlying issues. If you're calling for service multiple times a season, the accumulated repair costs might outweigh the benefits of a new, more efficient system.
  • Cost of Repair vs. New System: If the cost of a significant repair approaches a substantial percentage of a new system's cost, replacement often makes more sense. A common guideline suggests evaluating the age of your system against the cost of the repair; if the repair cost is significant relative to the system's remaining lifespan, replacement might be more economical.
  • Energy Efficiency: Older systems are far less energy-efficient than modern units. A new, high-efficiency heating system can significantly reduce your utility bills, offsetting the initial investment over time.

We are here to provide a clear assessment and discuss your options, whether it’s a simple repair or considering a new system, ensuring you make the best choice for your home’s comfort and efficiency.

Stay Warm & Save: The Importance of Maintenance

While we excel at rapid, reliable heating repair, much like needing Emergency Furnace Repair, the best way to avoid unexpected breakdowns is through regular preventative maintenance. A routine tune-up can identify minor issues before they escalate, improve system efficiency, extend the lifespan of your unit, and ultimately save you money on costly repairs down the line. Customer Reviews

We recently moved to Florida and needed major repairs to our church. After researching several companies, I went with Sunstate and I’m so thankful I did. Joe came out and provided us with the information necessary to make an informed decision and provided a reasonable estimate. We had a new unit installed, duct work repaired, and new thermostat installed. If you’re reading this review and wondering who to trust for your AC needs, please call Sunstate.
Charlie M.
Great job replacing both the condensing unit and air-handler.  Moved the air-handler from the attic to the garage and re-designed and installed new duct work to accommodate the move.  Works great and no more worries about overflowing drain pan damaging the ceiling and wood floors.  Not to mention making it easier to maintain the AH unit.  The guys worked through the night to make sure the AC was back on before they left the job.   Thanks for a job well done.

Sunstate mechanical is truly the best contractors I have experienced since I moved into my house 30 years ago.  I have been dealing with Joe and his crew for over 11 years now. They are a trustworthy, respectful, experienced crew who works with you and gives you a fair value.  They just completed a big job replacing my A/C, gas furnance and condenser.  They did an excellent job, no short cuts, made sure everything was functional, and cleaned up the area nicely before they left.

Sunstate Mechanical are absolutely one of the best.  I have had two new units installed from them, and the work they did was spectacular.  The crew was prompt (even called ahead to confirm the appointment), incredibly professional, and they left the area around the air handler somehow cleaner than when they arrived.  I have had no issues with my units over the years because Sunstate Mechanical took the time to do it right the first time.
